Jess Thirlby names first England squad for Australia and New Zealand tour

Her first England squad has been called by jess Thirlby as head trainer for the Vitality Roses’ excursion of Oceania.
The team of 15 will journey to get a tournament that is behind-closed-doors to Australia and New Zealand later this season.
The squad, which includes World Cup bronze-medallists Fran Williams and Natalie Panagarry, train and will play contrary to the development group in Canberra of Australia until both sides travel to Auckland to face the New Zealand A side.
“We have some new faces within the Roses programme now and this is a fantastic opportunity to expose these players to new styles of drama and competition, whilst providing them the opportunity to learn from a few of their more seasoned team-mates,” said Thirlby.
“For example, Natalie and Fran who had the awesome opportunity to compete in the Vitality Netball World Cup earlier this year. It is extremely exciting to take this group on tour to compete against both team emerging ability.
“I am very much looking forward to some first global tour as head trainer of this Vitality Roses and can’t wait for whatever the future holds with this group.”
England squad for Australia/New Zealand tour: Imogen Allison, Summer Artman, Eleanor Cardwell, Amy Carter, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis, George Fisher, Laura Malcolm, Gabby Marshall, Victoria Oyesola, Natalie Panagarry, Jessica Shaw, Kate Shimmin, Olivia Tchine, Razia Quashie, Fran Williams.
England have named their group to its Europe Open, that sees them perform Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales .
England Netball futures head coach Sam Bird will lead the England side, alongside Emily Perry as assistant coach.
